Candles make life prettier.

If you want bring a little Christmas cheer to your house, or simply warm your heart, think candles. I love my new luminaries that I bought from Gold Canyon, although my favorite order is the Sugar Cookie scented candle. My house smells sweet and warm and just lovely.  Find your favorite candle scents and enjoy the emotions they envoke.

Red Heart Sunglasses.. from China.

I ordered these super oober cute  sun glasses from China  23 days ago. Etsy was where I found these bad boys and am super excited to finally have them, I think they were sent snail mail, but I understand, China is pretty far away. The package came in a small box tightly wrapped and kept safe with Chinese newspaper.  It's really fun getting packages from other countries. What do you think?

Light it up.

I'm definitely in the Christmas spirit. I put up my Christmas tree and by Christmas tree I mean five small trees that make for a happy little tree village. I think I left my hand-made decorations with my sister, so I just trimmed the trees with lights and the decorations I managed to hang on to.
I can't wait until the day after Christmas, so that I can stock up on Christmas tree decorations at a deep discount.

Remember no matter how small your Christmas set up is, it's still Christmas as long as you feel it in your heart.

Bacon.

Yesterday was very eventful. I worked for 8 long hours, then headed to my friend Erika's house to work on some paintings. Erika worked on her stuff for her business, doggy stuff. I tried to paint Sebastian, he turned out cute. I also painted this pig. I named him bacon, because I feel that most people only see pigs as bacon.  Stay tuned for future postings of Manguin.

" Love Grows"

I have been randomly doodle-ing this painting for over ten years, I've sketched it with charcoal colors and with colored pencils, pens, everything but oil paint. I finally painted a permanet picture for myself. It's always so much fun to draw, painting this signature drawing  was fun too. I always finish my flower heart with a sharpie marker and write love grows. I think this says a lot about my personality, the more I know a person the more I love them. If you're important to me, I want you in my life forever, because "love grows."

Manguin gets rain boots.

So I got paid today and decided to treat my new friend Manguin, to a new pair of rain boots. He loved them so much that they boosted his self-esteem. I mean, Manguin was on fire, he even whistled and clapped at some blond chicks that were walking by. Oh Manguin. I decided that before I wish for a girlfriend for Manguin, he has to learn some manners, and learn  to treat the ladies right. Just look at his mischievous smile, he's definitely not ready.  Here's a picture of Manguin playing in a rain puddle, in his new rain boots. Enjoy.

Meet my new friend, Manguin.

Hello! I would like to introduce you to my new friend, Manguin. He's a mix between a man and a penguin. He doesn't have parents because he's the first of his kind. See, I saw a shooting star last week, and I wished for a new friend. Down from the sky and out of a thought bubble, Manguin immersed. If I see another shooting star, I might wish for a girlfriend for Manguin, but it's too early to tell. Meet Manguin.

Gone to the Dogs!

Hello! So tonight I worked on paintings that will be displayed at the Pooch Parade,
( check out the link) http://www.towerdistrict.org/events.htm . My friend Erika, is really just letting me display some of my work at her booth. She is going to have a plethora of doggy crafts she has poured her heart and soul into. You can check them out here, http://sewdoggystyle.blogspot.com/. She's amazing, and really has a passion for creating things for her dogs and yours.

Here is the sketch I drew, so that I could have an idea of what I wanted to paint.

Here is the painting  that I finished tonight and that I will be bringing to the Pooch Parade.

Mermaid Scales

This painting is titled Mermaid Scales and I painted it last December, it was inspired by my Mermaid friend Erika. I have it up for sale on Etsy and another fellow Etsy enthusiast liked it so much they featured it, this means they put it into a collection. I am very proud that someone liked my work that much, that's all any artist can ask for.

Here is the link that nrjewel7 featured my work in.

Art Hop

Hello Folks! Sorry I took such a long time posting something new. I could not find my password, and finally figured it out. On October 7th, my friend Jennifer and displayed some of our art for Art Hop.

Art Hop is pretty neat, google it. It's where local artists can show their art in the community. Some artists sell their art and make quite a profit. I didn't sell anything but it was a good experience. Below is a picture of Jennifer and myself.
And here is a picture of the brownies that I baked for the event.
Although I didn't sell anything at Art Hop I will keep creating art, because I love it.

L.A. not the city...

Hello readers and friends. I wanted to share with you a simple yet very rewarding way to personalize your home. My sister and I recently moved into a very cute apartment, and under a moonlight (not shown), I have placed a small dresser, with some picture frames and decorations. Although I thought that my decorating looked great, I wanted our apartment to have a personal touch. While I was looking online, I saw great mugs at anthropologie.com and had a great idea of putting an L on canvas for Liliana and an A for Alejandra,my sister. Below,  (at the very bottom of the page) is a link to their site and the mugs that inspired me. Although I think their letters are beautiful, I didn't want to make an exact replica of their letters, so I painted the letters for our apartment in my own style. Here are the end results:

I think the A for Alejandra turned out a lot better than my L,and Alejandra thinks it looks like a little Eiffel tower, which makes me love it even more. I think I will make another set of these, with a better L. I can't simply redo the L because the light pink background that I painted the letters on, matches perfectly, and I am too OCD to make a new painting with a different hue of pink.

What do you think about these paintings? Show me what you have come up with. Xoxo, coco, coco, Liliana

I'm no Monet

Hello! I'm Liliana and this is my first art blog. Here I will post updates on my latest creations, what I am working on, and what inspires me. The picture above, I painted in 2006 and it was inspired by Monet's Water Lilies. I love Claude Oscar Monet and his work, and wanted to create a replica for myself, because a paper print just wouldn't do. Of course this doesn't come close to being a replica, but I love the colors and I am quite proud of how my painting turned out.

Who is your favorite artist? Do you paint? What inspires you?

Remember to subscribe to my blog, I will be creating more art, refining my skills and sharing the art in my heart with you.
